Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

  • using the GP online system: SystmOnline or via the Airmid App. These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
  • If you do not have an NHS Login you can complete an online form

You can also:

  • Use a repeat slip or on paper – You can put your request in on paper by dropping it through the letterbox,

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email, with the exception of housebound and vulnerable patients only.

The NHS App is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

Collecting your prescription

Please allow 3 full working days for repeat prescriptions from the day that you put your request in for dispensary patients and 7 full working days for patients collecting from the pharmacy.

If a patient registers as a temporary resident they can use the dispensary regardless of their temporary address.

Delivery is available for over 60s, vulnerable and palliative care patients.

Please talk to dispensary if you fall into the above.

Electronic Prescription Service

Patients will be able to have a paper-free prescription sent to the chemist, ie Featherfield, Tesco Pharmacy. Patients initially have to set this up directly with the chemist. Repeat prescriptions are requested in the normal way, Dispensary action the request and send to the GP for signature.

This prescription is then sent electronically to the chemist.

Please allow at least 7 full working days before going to collect from the chemist, please remember we are not open at weekends or bank holidays.

If you are a dispensing patient (i.e. you collect your medication from the surgery) you do not need to do anything further.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
